American Legion Holds Convention in Sioux City

The American Legion of Iowa is meeting in Sioux City this weekend.

The Convention Center is playing host to the 95th Annual Meeting. The event lasts through Sunday.

This past year the Legion has made a push to add new members, and support programs that can help the state's veterans, especially those who were involved in the recent conflicts in the Middle East.

"Members that are coming back from the War on Terrorism, this what they're telling us their needs are. Their educational benefits, their healthcare needs, those are all things that need to be addressed by legislation, and those things are happening, and the American Legion advocates for that every day."

The American Legion is also inviting everyone to attend its parade at 6:00 tomorrow night.

That parade will run from Pierce Street past the Convention Center on Historic 4th Street.
