A new business development on Sioux City's Northside is getting another tenant and some new jobs.
Another Walgreens is coming to town. It'll be the fifth one in the metro area and comes on the heels of construction beginning on the new Hamilton Boulevard location.
The store is just the latest addition to the North Valley Crossing strip mall, which is across the street from the Northside Walmart Supercenter on Floyd Boulevard.
Work is already underway on a new Pizza Ranch that'll be in the same location.
The North Valley Crossing development is owned by the City, which means the project will have to be approved by the City Council.
"In addition to the two new stores going in, we're putting a portion of the street in. So that opens up five or six lots right away. And those are excellent sites on the north side. With the traffic numbers growing on Floyd Blvd. and Outer Drive, interest has grown and you notice on the other side of the street, it's mostly built out now. So, we anticipate more growth in that area," said Sioux City Economic Development Director Marty Dougherty.
Dougherty says the new Walgreens will create about 40 jobs.
Walgreens is the largest drug store chain in the nation with more than 8,000 stores.
