STORM LAKE, IA — Police in Storm Lake have arrested a man they say set an apartment complex on fire after an argument with a former roommate. Saturday afternoon, police and fire trucks arrived at the complex on West Sixth Street in Storm Lake to find smoke coming from the west side and the basement of the building. After evacuating tenants, firefighters determined the fire had been intentionally set, but a broken water main in the basement had put that fire out. Witnesses said 22-year-old Vincent Nichols of Aurelia, a former tenant, had been heard earlier having a loud argument with his ex-roommate.Later that night, Nichols turned himself in to police, who found fire-starting materials in his backpack. He has been charged with 2 counts of 1st degree Arson and booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 50-thousand dollar bond.
