INWOOD, IA — On Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at approximately 7:48 A.M. the Lyon County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a car vs bus accident. Inwood Fire, Inwood Rescue, Lyon County deputies, Iowa State Patrol, and the Canton-Inwood Ambulance responded to the scene. Helicopters from both Sanford and Avera McKennan were also called to the scene. A Netherlands Reformed Christian School bus was stopped at the residence at 1983 240th Street when it was rear-ended by a 2010 Chevy Impala driven by Tyler Niemeyer, 16, from Hull, Iowa. No one on the bus reported any injuries at the scene. Niemeyer was transported to the Canton-Inwood Hospital. His passenger, Caleb Niemeyer, 14, was air-lifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Damage to the bus was estimated at $5000 and damage to the Impala was estimated at $15000.
