SIOUX CITY, IA — Congressman Bruce Braley visited the campus of Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City Wednesday. Braley, a Democrat, is campaigning against Republican Joni Ernst for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democrat Tom Harkin. At his Sioux City stop, Braley criticized Ernst for her positions on education, saying Federal financial aid is important to Iowa students. "Iowa college students have the third highest percentage of students who have student loan debt," said Braley. "Seventy-one percent and the sixth highest amount of average student debt, which is about thirty thousand dollars per student, so this is a significant issue." Braley and Ernst will meet in a series of debates later this fall ahead of the November 4th General Election.
