Thursday afternoon, the Iowa DOT will shift traffic from northbound I-29 into the southbound lanes half a mile south of Sergeant Bluff.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane in both directions for more than two miles.
That northbound traffic will cross back over into its normal lane not far from the Singing Hills exit.
This switch over is allowing construction workers to rebuild that northbound stretch of I-29. It's part of the overall reconstruction of the interstate through Sioux City.
The Iowa DOT expects the project to be complete around Thanksgiving, weather permitting.
