Construction Work on Gordon Drive Has Bright Side for Drivers.
SIOUX CITY, IA —
Construction on Gordon Drive in downtown Sioux City will be causing drivers headaches for a long time to come. While the added congestion will be a hassle, there may be a bright side for drivers. Sioux City Police have removed the red light cameras at the intersections of Gordon Drive and Fairmount, as well as Gordon Drive and Palmetto.
Officials say they removed the cameras to prevent any safety hazards for drivers or workers. Construction has also blocked off hundreds of parking spots at the Tyson Event Center. Officials with the Event Center are calling for patience as the street gets a makeover.
D.O.T officials expect to finish sometime in late November, but the work could continue until late spring of 2015.
