End of In-store Video Rental: Blockbuster Closing Stores
(SIOUX CITY, IA/NATIONAL) The days of the going to the video store are about over. By early next year Blockbuster will close all of its 300 stores and the DVD by mail program will come to an end by mid-December.
The cuts will leave about 2,800 people without a job.
The company that owns Blockbuster, DISH Network says consumer demand is clearly moving towards digital distribution of video entertainment.
DISH said it will now focus on the Blockbuster streaming and on-demand services that are currently offered to customers.
