(SIOUX CITY, IA) It may be cold outside but inside the Siouxland Center for Active Generations, it's 85 and sunny! That's because it's the 15th annual Cruise Week. This year's theme is South America. Instead of getting on a ship bound for south of the border, members are enjoying a vacation without leaving home. Part of the celebration is the BAD Cooking Contest for breads, appetizers and desserts, entered by chefs from senior living facilities around Siouxland. Anchor Erika Thomas had the very rough assignment of judging the desserts category."It's nice to have some different things to do, meet some different people, have a good time together, kick back and relax, and learn a few things, and have a little bit of fun," says Kerry Ruehle, Activities Coordinator. The winner of the desserts division was "Kahlua Dream" -- kahlua-soaked cake layered with pudding and whipped cream. "Mini Beef Empanadas with Chimichurri Sauce" took home the top prize in appetizers and "Anti-Pesto Pull Apart" won in the bread category. The chef from Emeritus at NorthPark Place senior living center took home prizes in all three categories -- two 1st places and one 2nd place.
