A fire that broke out early this morning destroyed a house on Sioux City's North Side.
Firefighters say it started toward the back of the house, but spread fast.
The home in the 400 block of 37th Street Place was almost entirely gone by the time firefighters got there.
To make things worse, the nearest fire hydrant was out of service, so firefighters had to go a few hundred feet down the street to find a working hydrant.
Firefighters say no one was home at the time, and they were able to stop the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.
No word yet on how the fire started.
