(SIOUX CITY, IA) Sioux City firefighters are pitching in to help their colleagues in Detroit.
On May 4th at 7:30 PM, the Orpheum Theater will show the acclaimed documentary called Burn. It's the culmination of a 5 year project that followed Detroit firefighters, a city with one of the highest arson rates in the world. Crews respond to 30 structure fires a day.
The money raised through tickets purchases will help buy much needed equipment for those firefighters in Detroit."It's been really amazing to discover what a true brotherhood these guys have, and how, everywhere we go to show the movie, guys come up afterwards, whether it's Seattle, or Des Moines, or New York, they say, wow, this is a movie about us, nobody has really made a documentary about firefighting, let alone one that goes home with the guys and goes into buildings with them," says Tom Putnam, documentary director/producer.
After the screening, area fire departments will take over Pierce Street and give the public a chance to see their trucks.
Tickets are $19.50 at the door or $15 online. You can buy them at www.detroitfirefilm.org.
