FOIA Request for Postal Study Details Denied
(SIOUX CITY, IA) Sioux City leaders continue their battle to get more details of a critical study on local postal service.
The city sent a Freedom of Information Request to the US Postal Service two weeks ago for more information on the Mail Processing Study, but postal officials denied the request. Because the study contains postal patron information, the study is exempt from releasing details while information is still being gathered.
The city says the postal service's response isn't good enough for Siouxland.
"It's important for the community to know that information, in order for us to respond effectively, so we're taking the next step on the Freedom of Information, which is lawfully, an appeal of their denial," says City Manager Paul Eckert.
The USPS also told the city that once a decision is made, the full study will be available under the Freedom of Information Act.
