Iowa Sen. Grassley Visits Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, IA —
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley believe work on a compromise Farm Bill could begin soon.
Grassley spoke to the Downtown Rotary Club, just one of a number of stops he's been making in Northwest Iowa.
Based on what he's hearing from colleagues, Grassley believes a compromise will be worked out and taken up by a conference committee when Congress returns after Labor Day.
"I believe coming out of that conference you have to have both the Food Stamp Bill and a Farm Bill together, that's not necessarily the way I like it but as a practical matter that's what you're going to have to do to get a bill to the President. I think we'll get a bill to the President," said Sen. Grassley.
Food stamp funding is included in the Senate version of the Farm Bill, as it has been for years.
The House version separates them into two issues.
