IRGC Denies Penn National's Requests
(JOHNSTON, IA) The Iowa Racing and Gambling Commission has turned away two requests from the owner of the current operation, the Argosy Casino.
The owner, Penn National Gaming asked the IRGC to put aside the decision that allows Sioux City Entertainment to replace the floating casino with a new Hard Rock Casino.
The commissioners also refused to let Penn redirect the 3% of casino revenues that have been going to Missouri River Historical Development and are awarded to nonprofit groups.
"We hope to get some kind of a fair hearing somewhere and so that's certainly why we've taken this to court, because we finally, we want to be in a venue where we're actually going to get a fair hearing and the statute is going to be complied with," said Karen Bailey, Penn National Spokesperson.
Meanwhile an Iowa judge continues to deliberate the fate of a lawsuit Penn has filed to stop construction of the new casino.
