The Sac County man who killed his mother, then kidnapped a woman he met online, will spend the rest of his life in prison.
A judge handed down a life sentence for 21 year old Kirk Levin.
In January, deputies were investigating the kidnapping of a Storm Lake woman who escaped from Levin.
They found Levin's mother, Marilyn Schmidt, dead in her home.
Levin had been released from prison just two days before the murder.
In addition to the life sentence, Levin has to pay $150,000 in restitution to his mother's estate.
