Local Celebrities Tend Bar for Support Siouxland Soldiers

(SIOUX CITY, IA) Some local celebrities tended bar for a good cause.

Thursday's guest bartender event at Eldon's Restaurant raised money for the non-profit "Support Siouxland Soldiers"

Colonel Brian Miller of the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Sioux City Councilwoman Rhonda Capron and Bandits football player Spetler Tonga all picked up a tray to help the organization. 20% of the profits will go to "Support Siouxland Soldiers."

"It helps us fund our operations as we coordinate events for putting together care packages for deployed troops and also providing free food to veterans. About once a month we do a food for veterans event where we give boxes of food to veterans and their families," says Tom Eakin, a Board Member of Support Siouxland Soldiers.

Eakin says about 40 care packages are shipped overseas each month and that number is growing as the organization gains more traction.
