(SIOUX CITY, IA) More than two years after the death of 6-year-old Manuel Ramirez, a bronze marker now rests at his grave. He died in his Sioux City home on the evening of March 7th, 2011. A Siouxland News investigation late last year revealed police are calling his death a murder but no one's been arrested. We also shared that Manuel had been buried at Calvary Cemetery with no headstone to mark his grave. A number of viewers reached out to us after that story aired, interested in doing what they could to help. The cemetery has now installed a bronze plaque to mark Manuel's grave."The marker does, when people come to visit graves, the marker really ties everything together, it really does put a finish to it," says Walter Peterson, Calvary Cemetery Sextant. A bank account set up to raise money for a marker over the winter collected more than 700 dollars.
