Museum Week Features New Exhibits

Iowa Museum Week is next week and at today's city manager's press conference, they announced a new exhibit, "Nature's Kaleidoscope: Digging into the Past".The exhibit has a world class collection of fossils and minerals and other interesting rocks. "Any museum in the world would just salivate over some of this stuff...from dinosaur eggs to meteorites, petrified wood," said Museum Director, Steve Hansen. The exhibit will be shown alongside "The Big Dig", one of the museum's most popular attractions. It's an interactive exhibit that's just like an actual fossil dig site. And there's something adults can do to have fun, too! Be a Tourist in Your Own Town. "We're expanding that we have a lot of entities involved with that this year. You can grab a passport at one of our participating locations and get it stamped," said Anne Westra, Economic Development Specialist. "You can go to for a listing of all the different places people can take their families and get those passports," Westra said. That program has been expanded to two months and runs through the end of July.
