After a tough series against Omaha, the Sioux City Musketeers must now regroup for the Western Conference finals against the best team in the league, Waterloo. If Omaha was the test, Waterloo is now the exam. But the Muskies aren't fazed about the Anderson Cup winning team or its 3-game sweep over Sioux Falls, where they scored 20 goals against the Stampede. They know they can play with this team having split their 6 regular season meetings. So they're more than ready for the challenge and the added intensity of the conference finals. "We're ready for them," said Jared Thomas, the Musketeers' forward who's totaled 4 points in the playoffs. "We've done fairly well against them this year. We're for sure not afraid of them and we're just going to go in there and try and win every game we can. The intensity is even higher than it was in the Omaha series and we're just looking at it as one game at a time and just trying to get three wins." Game one of the Western Conference Finals gets underway Friday in Waterloo at 7:05.
