A scammer is using the good name of a local organization to try and get your money.
Opportunities Unlimited serves people with a variety of disabilities.
Now, a man is using the organization's name in trying to solicit donations.
Several people have called OU about this person.
OU's President says it's upsetting someone would try to take advantage of the organizations reputation.
And she urges the community to be vigilant against this door-to-door threat.
"We do not solicit door-to-door, nor do we do telephone solicitation in any way, shape, or form. We choose other forms of medium to do that and so it's extremely unfortunate because we have always tried to be good community citizens and try to do good work here and get the word out in ways that are lawful and more appropriate," said Stephanie Brown, president and CEO of the organization.
If you're approached by anyone who says they're raising money on behalf of Opportunities Unlimited, call Sioux City police immediately.
