Orpheum Restorer Passes Away
SIOUX CITY, IA —
A man who gave new life to the Sioux City Orpheum Theatre and so many like it has passed away.
Ray Shepardson headed the Orpheum project that lasted two years, and helped bring the theatre back to its original condition in 2001. The project focused on undoing earlier renovations that turned it into two separate movie theaters.
Ray had a long career of restoring similar playhouses and theatres. Sioux City was just one of the 35 projects he helped rebuild across the country.
He died Monday in Wheaton, Illinois where he lived. Ray Shepardson was 70 years old.
