People pumping gas in Nebraska will have to dig deeper into their wallets as of today: it's the first day of a tax increase for gasoline.
The previous tax, set at 24.6 cents per gallon, was the lowest Nebraska had seen since 2008.
The new tax raises the rate to 26.3 cents per gallon.
State law allows for officials to change variable portions of the tax every 6 months based on funding needed for highway projects.
The new change could bring an estimated $20.4 million dollars.
