Plan to Widen Highway 75 in Sioux Center Stalls

(SIOUX CENTER, IA) A plan to widen a busy highway through a northwest Iowa town has hit a dead end for now. The city council's decision follows a public forum on the project held in Sioux Center Wednesday evening. The city and the Iowa DOT were looking at a plan that would widen part of Highway 75. A study shows the expansion will eventually be needed to handle a growing amount of traffic. But some people complained the widening would take too much of their property and make it more dangerous for children to get to nearby schools. The city is now asking for feedback on its website.
