Remsen Celebrates its Quasquicentennial

One northwest Iowa town is celebrating more than just American Independence this weekend... The town of Remsen, Iowa is celebrating its 125 years of existence. The celebration started yesterday and coincided with Independence Day earlier this afternoon. The event included fresh lemonade, activities for children and of course Blue Bunny ice cream.Members of the committee had been working on the event for over two years and said it was great to finally see everything come into fruition. "We decided to do it on the 4th of July just to make it extra fun. A lot of families are back by then to celebrate 4th of July. So, we just decided to overlap," said Quasquicentennial Co-Chair Craig Bartolozzi. The 125th celebration for Remsen will continue for the rest of the weekend.
