Rochelle Sapp Murder Trial Moved to Carroll County
ORANGE CITY, IA — The murder trial of a Siouxland daycare provider is being moved.34 year old Rochelle Sapp of Orange City is accused of fatally injuring 3-year-old Autumn Elgersma while watching the child last October. Authorities say Autumn suffered blunt-force head trauma, and they charged Sapp with first-degree murder and child endangerment.Sapp's attorney requested a change of venue, saying the publicity surrounding the case would make it hard to find an impartial jury in Sioux County. Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady has approved moving to trial to Carroll, Iowa. No trial date has been sent.Meanwhile, prosecutors have asked the judge for an order preventing Sapp from contacting Autumn's family. They say Sapp has sent Autumn's mother and another family member unsolicited text messages that were "unwanted, upsetting and distressing to the victim's family."
