SAC CITY, IA — An inmate in the Sac County Jail is facing additional charges after an attempted escape last Friday. Sac County deputies say 60 year-old Randy Barney of Rockwell City and three other inmates were in the jail's exercise area Friday morning when Barney climbed over the fence and barbed-wire barrier. He was quickly re-captured by deputies while still on jail property, and is now being held on felony attempted escape charges. He was being held on a burglary charge in Calhoun County at the time.
