Sioux City Leaders Urge Residents to Explore Their Hometown
SIOUX CITY, IA —
Sioux City is asking residents to have fun close to home.
As part of tourism week in Iowa, city leaders are working to promote the area and draw in visitors.
At the same time, they hope people will stick around and enjoy the entertainment and historical attractions in their own backyard.
"We want to encourage all of our residents to get out and support not only local restaurants and local entertainment venues and local businesses, but also, consider planning a staycation with your family, and by staycation we mean, making a reservation at a local hotel, dining in those facilities, and making a real commitment to our own community businesses," said Chris McGowan of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce.
As part of the week, check out the 'Tourist in Your Own Town' program at www.visitsiouxcity.org
Stopping by free attractions like the Art Center and Public Museum can lead to prizes and new experiences.
