SIOUX CITY, IA — Some Sioux City residents got a chance to have a close up and personal talk with a police officer Monday morning. It was part of the "Coffee with a Cop Program."From 7 to 8 Monday morning at the Hy-Vee on Hamilton Boulevard, Sioux City police officers provided free coffee and an ear to the concerns of the community. One officer says community events like these are very valuable to the police department. "The hope is that officers can find some outreach to get to know some of the community that we might not otherwise deal with. Often we only deal with people when they're the victim of a crime, or the adverse, the suspect of a crime," said Sioux City Police Officer, Jason Allen. The Department hopes to have more of these coffee with a cop sessions in the future.
