Sioux City Schools Approve Food Vendors

Sioux City Schools have approved food vendors for the upcoming school year.

The school board approved four food service contracts to supply the district with a variety of products. Including a 397-thousand dollar contract for fruits and vegetables with Greenberg Fruit Company of Omaha.

Greenberg lost the district's business two years ago after they had issues meeting packaging requirements and bugs were found in broccoli. Greenberg's general manager told the board they've added technology and employee training.

The board also approved contracts for dry, frozen and processed products with Braunger Foods; dairy products with Dean Foods; and bread products with Pan-O-Gold Baking Co.
