Sioux City's Newest Elementary School Has Opening Ceremony
SIOUX CITY, IA — It opened on the first day of school last week, but Sioux City's newest elementary school had its *ceremonial* opening Wednesday. Members of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, joined school district officials and Sioux City council members this morning at Loess Hills Elementary for a ribbon-cutting.The school is the district's 13th construction project that was funded by money from a one-cent, local option sales tax. "I think it builds a sense of community not only for the parents, community, businesses, and chamber of commerce but also for the kids//I just wanted the kids to see officially see that this is there building. I wanted it to be a special time and I think it was," said Principal John Beeck Loess Hills will only hold its title of newest school until next fall, when the new Morningside Elementary School opens.
