Texas Manufacturer to Build New Plant in Norfolk, NE

Nebraska leaders have announced a triple boost for business in Northeast Nebraska.

Governor Dave Heineman says Houston-based Tejas Tubular Products is setting up a new manufacturing plant in Norfolk, a plant that will employ 200 workers.

Tejas makes piping and products used in oil fracking, and nearby NuCor Steel will supply more than 150,000 tons of steel per year to the new facility.

There's also another big announcement: as part of the Tejas project, Black Hills Energy will build a new natural gas pipeline to Norfolk, increasing capacity by 50 percent, and helping draw other prospective businesses to the area.

The State of Nebraska and the City of Norfolk will pitch in a combined $5 million toward the Tejas project and the gas pipeline.
