Woodbury County Sheriff's Office Cracks Down on Texting & Driving
SIOUX CITY, IA — Texting while driving is illegal in Iowa-- but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen anymore. So the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office is joining the "One Text or Call Could Wreck It All" campaign. This weekend there will be special enforcement patrols that will be looking for impaired drivers as a way to educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving, including texting. "The message that we want to get across is that you are 23X more likely to be involved in a motor vehicle accident if you are texting while you're driving. That's pretty significant," said Lieutenant Charles Hertz. Hertz says the sheriff's office will have extra patrols the entire holiday weekend looking for impaired and distracted drivers.
