Zach Beeken was raised in Des Moines. But Wednesday, his grandmother, great-grandmother and other members of his extended family watched from South Sioux City as he and his band "Restless Road" continued their quest to become music superstars.
They're now finalists on the FOX-TV show, "X-Factor."
Family and friends who watched said they were more than proud to watch the group rise to success and perform for America.
The group sung a classic, Easy Like Sunday Morning, and received high praise for most of their performance. Judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland gave a bit of advice to work on pitch and continuing to improve their melodies and harmonies, but for Zach's family who nervously watched, they're just excited to see the boys do well.
In fact, they are still shocked that Zach is a singer powerhouse. "We didn't find out he was a singer until May and he didn't tell anybody and (pause) after that he tried- he went to New York tried out for the X Factor and it's been a crazy journey ever since," Cindy Beeken, the self-appointed nanager, behind her family and Zach's support system.
Siouxland News was able to chat with Zach before his performance.
He left a special message for them before he hit the stage.
"I just want to tell them I love them so much and I'm so grateful that they are you know going out there and supporting me and my group and, you know, just getting the community together and rallying for us. It's really awesome knowing that, that they're doing that for me,"said Beeken, one third of the country band trio.
With his love sent off to his family, they'd like to return the favor. They want Siouxland to become a "roadie," or fan of the group and vote.
"There are five ways for you to vote for your favorite Acts competing in a voting episode ("Voting Show") on THE X FACTOR: (1) Honda Odyssey Online Voting at www.thexfactorusa.com/vote; (2) THE X FACTOR USA App Voting; (3) Shazam App Voting; (4) Text Voting (SMS) and (5) Toll-free Voting," according to the official voting rules from the singing competition.
Best of luck to Zach and "Restless Road."
