      YMCA Donates School Supplies

The Norm Waitt Senior YMCA is helping kids "Get the Lead Out" to start the school year. The Y has donated 116 thousand pencils to every public elementary school in Sioux City and South Sioux City, helping students prepare for the school year. Staples and The Education Station also donated supplies for the school year. The two businesses donated classroom supplies to local teachers. The Y says it's important for kids to get a strong start to the school year. "We want kids to get off to a great start to the school year by reminding them to stay active, academically and physically," said Digital Marketing and Media Coordinator Chris DeRoin. A fun fact, the amount of pencils donated, if laid together end to end, would stretch for almost 14 miles.
