A special celebration for people with special needs was held tonight

A local facility for people with special needs held a special celebration tonight.

GiGi's Playhouse on Indian Hills Drive held its annual Down's Syndrome Day open house.

This is one of the last events at the current location because the Playhouse is preparing to move.

One of the people behind the Playhouse explains why March 21st has been designated Down's Syndrome Day.

Amanda Sweum the Site Director for GiGi's Playhouse told us that "Today is the day we've set aside. It's three-twenty-one. Down Syndrome is an extra copy of the twenty-first Chromosome so that's why they made March twenty-first world Down-Syndrome day. That's the significance for March twenty-first and that's why we came together for today."

This afternoon's celebration also included a balloon release and light refreshments for the participants.
