Report publishes sexual misconduct allegations against Matt Lauer in wake of firing
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- After NBC News fired longtime "Today Show" anchor Matt Lauer due to allegations of sexual misconduct, Variety Magazine has released new details about the accusations he's facing.
The magazine says that Lauer gifted a colleague with a sex toy which included an explicit note as a present.
Lauer also allegedly exposed his private area to a female employee after she was called to his office. When she didn't entertain his advances, he allegedly scolded her.
The anchor was reportedly known for identifying the female co-hosts he would most likely sleep with and sending lewd comments either verbally or through text messages, according to Variety.
It is alleged that Lauer had a button under his desk which he could use to lock his door without having to get up.
Two women told the magazine that this allowed Lauer to have "inappropiate contact" with female employees without anyone else's knowledge.
NBC News said in a statement that they never received any reports about Lauer's conduct until Monday night. The news outlet says that an employee alleged misconduct during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
They declined to comment on the allegations detailed in Variety's report.
