Appeals ruled grieving mourners have a right to privacy
A Nebraska law that limits picketing at funerals has been upheld by a federal appeals court.
Picketing at soldiers' funerals by the controversial Westboro Baptist Church spurred the legislature to take action. The law which was passed in 2006 bans protests within 500 ft. of a funeral service for an hour before and 2 hours afterwards. The 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled grieving mourners have a right to privacy. Members of the Topeka, Kansas, church vow to appeal to the US Supreme Court.
