Blood donations needed following hurricanes Harvey and Irma
SIOUX CITY, Ia —
Siouxland's biggest blood bank is asking for the public's help replenishing its stores after helping hurricane-ravaged parts of Florida and Texas.
The LifeServe Blood Center says its sent 150 units of blood to those areas and that means its supply available to local hospitals is running low.
"We are making sure that we have our local blood supply pumped up enough so that we make sure we can help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma. We did send 50 units of blood down to Texas for Hurricane Harvey relief. And now we just sent almost 100 units down to Florida in preparation for Irma," said Claire DeRoin.
You can donate at donor center in Sioux City in the Southern Square Shopping Center.
