Charges dropped in August 31st shooting citing insufficient evidence
SIOUX CITY, Ia —
Charges have been dropped against a Sioux City teen over a shooting in Morningside late last month.
17-year-old Elija Perales had initially been charged with willful injury causing serious injury over that August 31st incident on South Lemon Street.
His 17-year-old victim was shot in the knee.
Late last week, prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss that charge, saying in court documents that there was insufficient evidence the victim sustained a serious injury as defined by Iowa law.
