City Council gives initial approval to land sale for Aldi
Sioux City, IA — Sioux City is one step closer to getting an Aldi grocery store. The City Council gave initial approval to Aldi Inc. to purchase land in the Floyd River Renewal Area. Aldi currently has 29 locations throughout Iowa. The closest is in Council Bluffs. Council member Dan Moore says the new store will give Sioux City residents different options when it comes to grocery shopping.
City Council Member, Dan Moore, said, "I think Aldi's has a reputation of being just a little bit different with the products they carry. I think it will be a variety, I think people will have a choice. It'll be good to have another store that offers other types of products and a different type of variety of products."
When the new store will be built is still up in the air, but the sale of the land is expected to be completed within a month or two.
