Despite bitter cold temperatures, Siouxlanders still flock to Cone Park

Sioux City's new Cone Park has only been open a few weeks, but they have been forced to battle against undeniably cold temperatures.

Sunday and Monday's frigidly cold temperatures led Cone Park to close. Despite that, the family-friendly tubing hill has seen a great turn-out since opening just before Christmas.

Recreation Specialist, John Byrnes said, "We have had consistent turnout even with the cold temps and we are really excited about that. It kinda shows how new and fun we are and people want to get out here and try it. We're really pleased with the turnout we've had even on these colder days."

Byrnes says the community reaction to the new facilities has been nothing but positive, something he hopes to see continue as Cone Park grows and expands.

""It's been just a fun, new addition to Sioux City, and I keep hearing that over and over and I can't agree more. A lot of people put a lot of work into it and we are just so excited to have the community come out and embrace it and everyone to get out here and have some fun, get active in the winter. It's been really cool to see," stated Byrnes.

Cone Park also offers Cosmic Tubing on Friday and Saturday nights.
