Iowa public schools report cards released for 2017 academic year

Sioux City schools have received their report cards for the 2017 academic year by the Iowa Department of Education.

These report cards, which evaluates all public schools in Iowa shows how each school is performing based on certain educational measures.

Schools are assigned one of six overall ratings including exceptional, high-performing, commendable, acceptable, needs improvement, and priority.

There were 13 schools ranked as acceptable including Unity Elementary, Spalding Park Elementary, and East Middle School.

Three that were ranked as high performing including Moville Elementary, Sergeant Bluff Luton Senior High, and Westwood High.

There were six ranked as commendable including Bronson Elementary, Anthon Elementary, and Bryant Elementary.

Five schools need improvement including Westwood Elementary, West Middle, and North High.

And five schools ranked as unable to rate including Morningside Elementary, Pierson Elementary, and Clark Early Childhood Center.
