Jackson Recovery and Hard Rock Casino partner for Responsible Gaming Education Week
SIOUX CITY, Ia —
Sioux City's Jackson Recovery Centers is working with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to promote responsible gambling.
The Center has a booth set up at the Hard Rock as part of National Responsible Gaming Education Week.
Their goal is to increase awareness and encourage people to get help if they feel they may know a problem gambler.
"We tell people to have the conversation. A lot of people have conversations with family and friends about drugs and alcohol but we really have the conversation about problem gambling," said clinical supervisor Nick Brown.
Some signs and symptoms of a problem gambler include irritability, asking loved ones for money and gambling when depressed.
The Recovery Centers suggests bringing a fixed amount of money when gambling.
They will be stationed at the casino all week from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
