June appears to be the earliest for you to get your fireworks legally in Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, IA (SIOUXLAND NEWS) —
Because of the laws surrounding ordinances the earliest Sioux City expects to be able to certify fireworks sellers is the middle of June well after the June 1 start date for sales allowed in the law.
Complicating matters further none of those ordinances can be written until the State Fire Marshal's Office writes its regulations on the subject something Sioux City's fire marshal says has yet to happen.
Mark Aesoph the Fire Marshal of Sioux City Fire Department told us that "I know we won't see any finalized version of that this week. We can not really start the process of accepting applications, if we do allow sales, until the state administrator rules are set up because unfortunately the two things must happen simultaneously"
The council hopes to be able to consider and pass a new fireworks ordinance next week in order to be able to have some fireworks sales in time for the July 4th holiday.
