UPDATE: Bond vote falls for new fire/EMS station in Lawton
LAWTON, Ia —
9:00 P.M.: In Lawton, voters were asked to approve a $1.6 million dollar bond issue to help pay for a new fire station and community center.
That measure fails tonight, with 131 votes in favor but 173 votes against.
5:00 P.M.: The future of a proposed new fire station and community center in the Woodbury County town of Lawton is on the ballot today.
That community asking residents to approve a $1.6 million dollar bond issue to build a new station for the community's fire and EMS departments.
That new station would also have a community center attached to it.
The town says the volunteer department has outgrown its current home.
