Local retirement community knits scarves for local Siouxland kids
Fifty kids from across Siouxland who needed some holiday cheer went home with a gift from Santa this afternoon.
This fun event was put on by The Heritage at Northern Hills, an independent living facility.
Their residents made scarves for each child to take home.
Along with the scarves each child was given, they were also given a book about Christmas.
This is the 8th year of the event and it's always something the residents look forward to.
The Executive Director of The Heritage, Christy Nikkel had this to say about the event and what it means to the residents, "It gives them an extra special purpose to make the scarves, to know they can see who they are going to. It gets them excited when they see the children get excited. We feel very fortunate that we are able to do such a feel good event."
Also part of the event the children arrived in brand new coats for the winter.
These coats were donated by the local charity, Lucky Leprachauns prior to the event.
