Missouri River Historical Development requests judgment in Argosy lawsuit
Attorneys for Missouri River Historical Development are asking a judge in Des Moines to throw out claims against it made by the former owners of the Argosy Riverboat Casino.
The suit, filed by Penn National Gaming, alleges MRHD breached a contract by ending its association with the Argosy and backed a plan to build a new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
MRHD has requested a hearing to settle the case. The Argosy closed in late July 2014 after Iowa regulators denied its license renewal, paving the way for the Hard Rock to open in August of that year.
The case was set to go to a jury trial in February in Des Moines, but court documents show that was pushed back to January of 2019.
