New Pearl Street Park construction on schedule

Work continues on a new green space in Downtown Sioux City.

Pearl Street Park is replacing an old parking lot at the corner of 7th and Pearl, across the street from the LaunchPAD Children's Museum.

That park is funded by a half- million dollar donation from Regina Roth.

Sioux City's Parks and Recreation Director says the project is on schedule.

"Some of the demolition has taken place. City crews have removed the hard surface and they began excavation and we are going to be bring in top soil. The contractor will start mid-July. The completion date for the project is September 30th," said Parks and Recreation Director Matt Salvatore.

When completed, that park will include a small amphitheater, outdoor seating and some trees.
