New toddler splash pad to open this summer at Miracle League of Sioux City
New projects are underway at a Sioux City park.
The Miracle League of Sioux City held a groundbreaking this afternoon, announcing their upcoming expansion, a new toddler splash pad and playground designed for kids ages 6 months to 5-years-old. Construction for the splash is already underway.
"It's a unique setting because there are so many "abled-body" kids playing in the park as well, so it's a place that both people with disabilities and the non-disabled can come together and learn from each other and play together, and so it's something special that we have here in Sioux City," said Kevin Negaar, President of Miracle League of Sioux City.
Families say they're looking forward to having this new addition for their kids to enjoy. We spoke to the title donor who donated $25,000 to this project, in honor of their son.
"Our son Samuel would have been three this year and since he was born we've wanted to give back to the community or do something special, to keep his memory alive with us, or give back to know that we're doing something," said Jessica Qazos, donor.
The splash pad is set to open sometime in June, and the playground, will be ready this Fall.
