Police identify man killed after car hits train
Sioux City, IA —
Sioux City Police have released the name of the man involved in yesterday's collision with a train at 31st and Springdale Drive.
Nicholas Staber, 38 , of Sioux City was killed after his car hit a stationary train.
No other details of the accident are being released at this time.
Police say the car was driven by a 38 year old Sioux City man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
They're not releasing his name yet.
They believe the car was traveling at a high rate of speed, and left the road before reaching the railway crossing, and crossed a curb and one set of tracks before hitting the train.
The exact reason why is still unclear.
Just after 9:00 a.m., authorities responded to a car vs train accident at 31st and Springdale Dr.
The front of the car is trapped under neath the train.
Crews are working to free the car from under the train.
There is no word yet on how many are in the car or extent of injuries.
Traffic is not affected on Highway 75.
